The office is open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8:00 a.m. till 5: 00 p.m. We are closed for lunch from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.. We are also open several Saturdays each month from 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. and have just started having an occasional evening appointment time.

 The recent concerns with traveling and the amount of radiation a person may receive from body scanners raised questions concerning the radiation one may receive during radiographs (x-rays) that your dentist may recommend. The following is information regarding radiographs at Dr. Willis' office.

• Our office is totally digital. This means that our radiographs (x-rays) do not require film but instead are directly imaged on a computer. This process uses approximately one-third the amount of radiation from traditional film radiographs. It is the most modern method available.
• Every machine that we use to take radiographs is examined and tested by the State of Indiana on a bi-annual basis to assure that they are working properly. The certificate from these tests are displayed on my office wall.
• Everyone who takes radiographs in my office is trained according to State of Indiana standards and has a certificate on display.
• We use lead shields on each and every patient.
• The need for radiographs is determined on an individual basis. We suggest some patients have radiographs to check for decay on a 6-month basis because of their decay rate, others are no more often than every 2 years.
• It is not possible to do a complete examination for caries without periodic use of radiographs. This statement is overwhelmingly regarded to be true, there is no argument regarding the need for radiographs to maintain good oral health. In addition to detecting decay we can monitor bone health, the status of older restorations, pathology such as cysts and infections, the need and timing of orthodontia and wisdom tooth extraction, and a myriad of other problems.
